Indian Railways is preparing to buy 12 lakh CCTV cameras to give passengers a safe and fearless journey experience. All 11 thousand trains and 8,500 stations will be monitored through CCTV. For this, a provision of Rs 3,000 crore can be made in the budget of fiscal year 2018-19.

According to the plan, 8 cctv cameras will be installed in every coach, which will also cover the gate and corridor. Apart from this, the cameras will be installed on the stations. At present, 395 railway stations and 50 trains have CCTV cameras.

A senior official of the Ministry of Railways said that in the next two years, All mail / express and premier trains, including Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto and local passenger services, will be equipped with the modern surveillance systems.

The Railways are considering all the options for fund raising and money can be mobilized on the market if needed. Given the number of rail accidents last year, full thrust will be on preventing safety and accidents in this railway budget. Apart from this, there may be a focus on the increase in the facilities of passengers.
